The Muskoka Edit & Travel Guide

,

There’s a certain magic to Muskoka that is hard to describe. Often called the “Hamptons of the North” but with a lot more rugged charm, the three great lakes (Joseph, Rosseau, and Muskoka) provide an endless sea of boathouses, heritage cottages and sprawling dockside patios where time seems to slow.

While the mist is lifting off the lake, here I would start my day with Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun SPF 50, its featherlight texture leaving nothing behind but a healthy, hydrated sheen. I recently discovered this Korean skincare line and have since become absolutely obsessed. It’s very affordable and unlike most other sunscreens doesn’t get in your eyes. Over that a healthy dosing of Rhode Peptide Glazing Mist to lock in dewy moisture and leave your skin healthy and hydrated. Beyond that little makeup is needed and let your hair dry after a morning dip in the lake.

For the perfect Muskoka day I would start with a slow indulgent morning and then head over to the The Boathouse Yoga for a Vinyasa Flow nestled in a tranquil marina surrounded by water lilies. Post yoga, treat yourself to Abbys Bakehouse a seasonal bakery with a cult following that serves mouthwatering butter tarts ( a gooey caramel Canadian dessert), blueberry muffins and freshly baked cookies. Later after a day swimming in Lake Joseph, I would head over for an indulgent dinner at local eateries like Crossroads or The Pearl, followed by a sunset cruise across the lake. End the day with star gazing on the dock and wind down with a relaxing cup of tea & cozy hoodie.
